Father's Day Gift

Tomorrow is Father's Day and I thought it would be nice for Beth to do something different for her Daddy. So I got a canvas and some non-toxic paint and this is what happened....

A very dirty foot

A very dirty (but happy) baby
And one of her trying to run away with a very dirty bum
The finished product. My daughter the artist :-)

9 Months Old Today

Thought it was time for another update. Beth is 9 months old today. She has been standing independently for just over a week but no attempts at walking yet. She can get everywhere she wants by crawling so I dont think she is bothered to walk yet. Thats my baby and me above. She is not a cuddler at all as you can see.
This is the dress I think she'll be wearing for the photo shoot we'll do soon. My friends bought a voucher for Beth's Christening 3 months ago! I dont know what to wear myself. Was hoping to lose some more weight before that though. I've lost 3.5kg since I started back on the wii after my trip to Dublin with Mum 2 weeks ago. Not too bad but a long way to go yet!

This is Beth's "what you talkin' 'bout" face. She is the image of her Dad here.

I don't know why but there's something so nice about watching her when she has her back to me. She's so vunerable and there's only me to protect her from the bad things in this world. She trusts me completely and that makes me feel incredibly priviliged and so happy there are not enough words to describe it

This is Beth showing her new "oh so attractive" habit of blowing spit bubbles.... Woody from Toy Story is her new best friend. She loves making him dance as it makes loads of noise on the laminate floor.
I'm glad it's the weekend so I get to spend 2 full days with her

Exams

So today I had an exam and Beth stayed with her grandparents last night. I had a great sleep, best one in months but I missed her so much! I can hear her breathing over the baby monitor now and everything is right with the world again :-)
We had a beautiful day here and I went to look at the market stalls in town after the exam. I wanted to pick up something nice for Beth's room as it looks so bare. I picked up a pretty cool wooden zebra but when I showed it to her she got quite upset! So I guess it's going in my room for now. Her Dad is going to paint the room soon. Pink and green. He picked the colours....hope he knows what he's doing!
Beth was cutting her 4th tooth when I took this picture. It was around 9pm and she normally goes to bed at 7pm but she was so upset I let her sit up to watch corrie with me. All she did was cuddle into me which would have been very cute if I didn't know she was hurting.
This is one of the pictures Beth's Dad sent me while I was at work. I nearly fell off my chair I was laughing that much!! She's wearing her Granny's glasses. I'm still amazed she stayed still long enough for him to take the picture. She's such a wriggler.
These next 2 pictures are when she was watching the Grinch who stole Christmas. At first she wasn't sure but then Jim Carrey won her over. She wasn't that fussed on Happy Feet but I thought it was brill.

She turned 8 months on Tuesday but even though it is such a short time I couldn't imagine my life without her. Love you, baby girl x

Beautiful Days

It was a gorgeous day here yesterday and Beth and I spent a long time in the park looking at the ducks and rolling around on the grass. This was Beth's first time ever touching grass. She loved every minute of it and pulled out hand fulls. She was also covered in factor 50 sun screen. She was not happy about getting that!
Here she is discovering the cherries on her dress and standing with one hand holding on. Yesterday she managed to balance for a couple of seconds without holding onto anything. She's constantly practicing. She cant wait to be running around the house giving me heart attacks
Today I gave her mince mixed up with some veg. This did not go down well but she is ok now and is fast asleep. Usually she will sleep 7pm-6/7am but now that she is teething it's all over the place. This morning we were awake at 5.30am. It is now 20.20 and I am wrecked!
The cheeky grin here makes me think she knows she's keeping Mommy from her sleep!

New Tooth

Beth has a new tooth coming through! She got her bottom two at 4.5 months and nothing since until today. The new one is only peeping through so it'll be a while before there's a pic of that.
She is getting stronger and is starting to cruise along the couch.
Yesterday we went to the park to see the ducks. We think she may have said duck but it was probably just babbling. She loved running after the ducks with her Dad and "walking" around. Today is cleaning day so I dont have to look at a messy house when I come home from work. Beth is having apple crumble and chicken today. She tried tuna yesterday. Thank god she loves her grub. Long may it last!!

Where Did You Come From, Baby Dear?

Where Did You Come From, Baby Dear?

~George MacDonald

Where did you come from, baby dear?
Out of the everywhere into here.

Where did you get your eyes so blue?
Out of the sky as I came through.

What makes the light in them sparkle and spin?
Some of the starry spikes left in.

Where did you get that little tear?
I found it waiting when I got here.

What makes your forehead so smooth and high?
A soft hand stroked it as I went by.

What makes your cheek like a warm white rose?
I saw something better than anyone knows.

Whence that three-cornered smile of bliss?
Three angels gave me at once a kiss.

Where did you get this pearly ear?
God spoke, and it came out to hear.

Where did you get those arms and hands?
Love made itself into hooks and bands.

Feet, whence did you come, you darling things?
From the same box as the cherubs' wings.

How did they all just come to be you?
God thought about me, and so I grew.

But how did you come to us, you dear?
God thought about you, and so I am here.

How we got here

A scan of Beth in June last year. We found out we were having a little girl on 25 June 2009 at about 12.15. Later that evening legend Micheal Jackson passed away. Day of happiness tinged with sadness.
My belly at 4.5 months

My belly at 8 months and 3 weeks. One week from the elective section (Beth was transverse till the very last making a natural delivery impossible)
Beth 3 days old still in hospital ward (where I'd been for 3 weeks prior to the birth). This was a rare quiet moment. She objected strongly to being ejected from the comfort of my womb before she was ready
First time out for a walk

First proper outfit (not just babygros)

My current favourite picture. Lots of other photos (I take loads everyday, hence my need for a blog or they'll all go to waste) but these are a few of my faves

Wonder Woman

I've decided after reading other blogs for the last year to start one of my own. It'll probably be very boring but it will be nice to look back on. I'm sure I will forget little things that happen everyday and this will be a way of recording them.

I'm a 28 year old single Mum to a beautiful 7 month (and 4 days) old baby girl Beth. Two days ago Beth pulled herself up into a standing position. Time is passing so quickly. She wants to be doing stuff for herself all the time. I think she'll want her own apartment by the time she is one!
This is just a short post to start. I wonder will anyone read it :-)
